Led by up-and-coming interior designer Kiana Dixon, Modern Surroundings is grounded in the belief that a well-designed space doesn’t need much—just the right pieces, serving the right purpose. It’s not about filling a room; it’s about elevating everyday life through thoughtful design.
We dug in through in-depth interviews and conversations, uncovering the deeper philosophy behind Kiana’s work: every object, every detail, every material carries meaning. Whether it’s supporting the aesthetic or the daily rhythm of the people living in the space, it matters. That’s where the tagline “Functionality Within Minimalism” came to life—capturing the studio’s commitment to balancing form and function without over-designing.
The cornerstone of this identity is The Link—an Afrocentric mark with an elegant, luxurious feel that anchors the brand. To create it, we merged the “M” and “S” from Modern Surroundings into a single, fluid emblem, symbolizing the connection between people and place, past and present, beauty and purpose.
We kept the visual system just as intentional: one distinctive trademark, a refined font, and a core color palette. Nothing extra, nothing loud—just the essentials, designed to stand the test of time. The result is a brand identity that feels as considered and enduring as the spaces Kiana creates.
